The Great War 1914 - 1918 

 

Regiment was in South Africa when war declared, sailed from Cape Town for the UK.  Joined 6th Cavalry Brigade 22/9/1914. Landed France and Flanders 8/10/1914.   20/11/1914 joined 8th Cavalry Brigade/3rd Cavalry Division -Back to 6th Cavalry Brigade, in the same Division 12/3/1918.

Soldiers/Officers died records 246 casualties for the period.

 

Men landed France and Flanders prior to 1/1/1916 entitled to a 1914 or 1914-15 Star as appropriate. Also the British War Medal & Victory Medal
