The Commemorative Medal for
Operations in the Middle East 1956
Medaille Commemorative des Operations du Moyen-Orient 1956
Instituted 22nd May 1957, and awarded for service during the
Anglo-French operations in Egypt during Operation Musketeer (The
Suez Crisis).
The medal: 30mm diameter in bronze, often in gilt. Obverse is of
similar design to the WW1 Orient medal but with slightly different
suspensions. Reverse inscription "Médaille Commémorative des
Opérations du Moyen-Orient 1956" with mint marks under. Bars: MOYEN
ORIENT. Ribbon similar to the Orient medal of 1926
(the gilt type is shown below)
