Medal de la Resistance Armee 1940-1945
 

     Instituted 16th February 1946 to recognise service with the Resistance and Intelligence networks in the occupied territory. The medal could be awarded posthumously.
    Description: 36mm diameter in bronze with a ring suspension. Obverse depicts the upper half of a female figure, in a defiant pose head turned to her right, right arm raised across her body. Reverse; a laurel wreath with the word RESISTERE superimposed across the centre, and the dates 1940 and 1945 respectively above and below.

 

Ribbon, black, with a pair of narrow red central stripes, with the green stripes at the edges. (black = dark days of occupation; green= hope; red= spilt blood of the resistance)
