The Commemorative Cross of the Volunteers of 1830
Croix Commemorative des Volontaires de 1830

     Instituted 20th April 1878 for award to all citizen volunteers who took up arms in the 1830 revolution, during the period 25th August 1830 to the 4th February 1831, provided they had not already been awarded the Iron Cross, and could furnish evidence of their participation. 
     Description: A 34mm wide white enamel Maltese cross, with a Burgundian cross set within the arms. Suspension by means of a pivoting royal crown and ring, all finished in gilt.  The obverse medallion displays a gilt Belgian lion set in black enamel, the reverse medallion has the date of the revolution '1830' also set in black enamel. 

 

Ribbon: - Of the national colours; black, with a pair of red and yellow edge stripes, red outermost.
