The Kuwaiti Liberation Medal.
(below) Awarded by the
Government of Kuwait to all personnel of the Allied forces deployed
in the 1991 Gulf war to liberate the Country. Like the Saudi
medal above permission to wear has not been granted for British
recipients.
The medal; issued in five grades* of differing design. Illustrated
here is the most common, the 40mm diameter fourth grade in bronze
finish. Obverse, a circular central design of a Arab dhow at sea
framed by the wings of a Falcon. At 6 o'clock is an enamel shield of
the Kuwaiti colours and at 12 o'clock the inscription "1991
Liberation" in Arabic. Reverse ; a spoke pattern overlain by the map
of Kuwait.
Ribbon; the Kuwaiti colours, equal widths of red white and green,
overlain by a black section at the upper edge.
